ROCK ISLAND – State Senator Mike Halpin announced that applications are now being accepted for the Small Equipment Grant Program benefiting fire departments and ambulance services.
“Fire departments and ambulance services are vital parts of our communities, assisting residents when they need it most,” said Halpin (D-Rock Island). “This grant program ensures that they are able to help as many people as possible, with the correct tools to do so.”
The Small Equipment Grant Program assists fire departments and not-for-profit ambulance services in Illinois, particularly those experiencing difficulty generating small equipment’s necessary revenue. The grants allow eligible applicants the opportunity to purchase small tools and equipment that they may not otherwise be able to afford.
A total of $6 million in funding will be available for eligible fire departments and EMS services through this year’s program. Previously, nearly $6 million was provided to 264 fire departments, fire protection districts and EMS providers across the state.
All interested fire departments and ambulance services must submit applications electronically, utilizing the application portal found on the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s website.
